W-PHS GOES DUTCH FOR FEBRUARY PROGRAM

February 1, 2023 @ 7:00 pm

While many Wayne County residents have Dutch roots and the area is steeped in Dutch influence, the Williamson-Pultneyville Historical Society (W-PHS) will present a program about “Our Dutch Connections.”  Since the 1830’s and 1840’s many Dutch immigrants from the Netherlands have settled in Williamson, and the hamlets of East Williamson and Pultneyville, and the greater Wayne County area.  Given hard times in their homeland, those who immigrated were in hopes of finding a better life for their families.

On February 1st, the W-PHS will present its first program of 2023.  “Our Dutch Connections” will be presented by well-traveled Pultneyville residents, Gary and Charlotte Buehler, who will share slides of their recent trips to the Netherlands which will give attendees a glimpse of modern-day Holland.  This program will also feature Steven Heald of Sodus, NY who will share his Dutch connections including his personal journey tracing his ancestry, his travels to meet Dutch relatives and related experiences.

All are invited to attend the February 1st program which will be presented in historic Gates Hall, 4107 Lake Road in Pultneyville at 7pm.  This program is free and open to the public and provides one of many opportunities to celebrate and commemorate our rich heritage throughout the Wayne County Bicentennial year.

Founded in 1964, the Williamson-Pultneyville Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer not-for-profit organization chartered by the State of New York Board of Regents and is situated in historic Pultneyville, just 25 minutes east of Rochester, NY.  Please visit www.w-phs.org to learn more about W-PHS.
