AFRICAN AMERICAN CIVIL WAR SOLDIERS AT EVENT IN PULTNEYVILLE
Noted Author and Historian, Marjory Allen Perez, will discuss her book Freedom, A Shared Sacrifice on Saturday September 25, 2021 at the Williamson-Pultneyville Historical Society (W-PHS) at 1:30pm. Ms. Perez will be discussing the history of African-American soldiers from Western New York during the Civil War.
Marjory Allen Perez is an independent researcher and writer who is the author of Final Stop Freedom:
The Underground Railroad Experience in Wayne County New York. Ms. Perez’ interest in preserving
African American history in our area since the 1970’s has resulted in an extensive database of area
family histories as well as identifying African Americans who served in the Civil War from the area. Well-
known and respected for her work, Ms. Perez was also the Wayne County Historian from 1972-2000 and
has been a certified genealogist since 2001.
This event is free and is open to the public. It will be held in the W-PHS Bicentennial Peace Garden.
Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs or blankets for this COVID safe outdoor event. Please note
that a rain date is scheduled for the following day, if needed.
Copies of Freedom: A Shared Sacrifice will be available for purchase at the event, which will be followed
with a Meet & Greet and book signing from 2-4 pm. The W-PHS house and exhibits will also be open
from 1-4pm.
