Pultneyville, NY . . . The Williamson-Pultneyville yoHistorical Society (W-PHS) invites members, neighbors, friends and the greater community to start the new year out with a Total Solar Eclipse Program offering insights to the April 8, 2024 Eclipse event. Such events are worthy of being observed and celebrated as they have long been credited by some for their intrigue and by others for contributing to major advances in the history of science.

On January 3rd, W-PHS will host Eclipse speaker, expert and enthusiast, Debra Ross, Chair of the Rochester Eclipse Force and Co-Chair of the National Eclipse Task Force. Ross will share her knowledge about the April 8th Eclipse and inspire attendees to become involved in this once in a lifetime event.

Witnessing a total solar eclipse is a rare opportunity as they generally occur only once every 100 years. Wayne County, along with the greater Rochester area, lies within the path of totality on April 8th. Ross encourages others to make plans for this history-in-the-making event as the sun passes over the moon, surrounding those in its direct path in total darkness for nearly 3 1/2 minutes and to create their own eclipse story which will go down in history.

Ross is knowledgeable and passionate about the April event which promises to be both a teaching and learning experience. It is more than likely to be the biggest event and attraction of the year in Wayne County with more than 50,000 visitors expected in the area in early April.

Bring in 2024 learning about the Eclipse, its path, what to expect, opportunities that it brings to our region . . . and more! As excitement builds, start thinking about your plans to make your own story which will become part of history to be shared with future generations.

The Total Eclipse Program sponsored by W-PHS is free and open to the public on Wednesday, January 3rd at 7pm. All are invited to attend this special presentation which will be held at historic Gates Hall . . . a community gathering place and America’s oldest continuously active small community theatre venue located at 4107 Lake Road, Pultneyville.
