Pultneyville, NY . . . The Williamson-Pultneyville Historical Society (W-PHS) will present its monthly program which is free and open to the public on Wednesday, October 2nd. Coinciding with 2024 Wayne County Apple Tasting Tour Month, the topic will be “All About Apples & Agriculture.”
Produced by Alison DeMarree, a retired Cooperative Extension Specialist and member of a local fruit growing family, the program will include a fascinating snapshot of industry facts and history. It will include growing practices and changes, varieties, regulations affecting the industry, consumer preferences, production figures, the current state of the apple industry impacted by the hail storm that decimated the 2024 crop in a matter of minutes in some places along the southern shore of Lake Ontario . . . and, more.
All are invited to attend and learn about the agricultural scene that has dotted the area’s landscape since the early 1800s, which for many stewards of the land, continues to be a way of life in the community.
Adding to the evening’s intrigue, all are asked to bring a copy of one or more family favorite “apple” recipe(s) which will be collected in the front foyer on the way into the program. On the way out, attendees will draw recipes to take home and all will have something new to try and taste!
Mark your calendar today for 7pm October 2nd at Gates Hall, 4107 Lake Road. Pultneyville.
