Fife & Drum…The Sound of History at Historic Gates Hall
The September 7th program of the Williamson-Pultneyville Historical Society (W-PHS) will feature the C. A. Palmer Fife and Drum Corpswhose headquarters are in Williamson.
Founded in 1961, the goal of the Corps has been to encourage and promote fifing and drumming as an early American art form and to remind the public of the role it played in the development of our nation. The purpose of the C. A. Fife and Drum Corps is to preserve and share the spirit of the art of ancient martial music, which is an integral part of our heritage
Steeped in history, this program is free and open to the public. All are welcome to attend and enjoy the resounding military music of the fife and drum and learning about the historical significance of the instruments, uniforms, customs and traditions.
W-PHS members and community residents of all ages are invited to attend what promises to be an exceptional experience at Gates Hall … the oldest, continuously active small community theatre in the United States. Young musicians in the area are also welcome to join W-PHS for the evening and not only learn about fifing and drumming, but how they can become involved in the art of this music. Homeschoolers are also encouraged to attend and discover how they can receive music credit by participating in the C. A. Palmer Fife and Drum Corps.
We look forward to having our W-PHS members join us for this September 7th, Fife & Drum program which will begin at 7pm at historic Gates Hall located at 4107 Lake Road in Pultneyville.
