Tour Guide: Sue Jane Evans, Chair, W-PHS Exhibits

Step back in time as tour guides bring picturesque Pultneyville history to life!  Learn about the significance of the area’s heritage dating back to 1806 and its notable architecture, which in part, earned the hamlet’s designation on the State and National Registers of Historic Places. Stroll past the harbor which was once the commercial center of town and learn about the waterfront and piers which once extended well into Lake Ontario. Meander through Pig Lane to the lakefront where one will see the War of 1812 Battle of Pultneyville site, the Lake Captains Monument, homes of the village’s earliest settlers who forged their way through the thick forest to settle near the lake and more! Discover other various points of interest along the way including historic Gates Hall . . . America’s oldest continuously active small community theatre.

Pultneyville is a short and scenic drive along Lake Road on the Seaway Trail which follows the southern shore of Lake Ontario, just 25 minutes east of Rochester, 11 miles east of Webster and 11 miles west of Sodus Point.

*Tour Check-In under the tent at Gates Hall, 4107 Lake Road, Pultneyville, NY at least 15 minutes prior to tour time. All tours are rain or shine. Wear walking shoes and bring umbrellas. Space permitting after ticket-holder check-in the day of, Cash or Check only will be accepted.

Ticket holders to receive one complimentary pair of Eclipse viewing glasses and one Pultneyville Eclipse sticker per person while supplies last.

All proceeds to benefit the Preservation Funds of Historic Gates Hall & the Williamson-Pultneyville Historical Society, a 501(c)(3) all volunteer organization.
