W-PHS Participates in NYS “Path Through History” Columbus Day Events
The Williamson-Pultneyville Historical Society (W-PHS) is pleased to announce its participation in the Fall 2019 NYS “Path Through History” Weekend hosting events on Columbus Day, Monday, October 14th in historic Pultneyville at two of its venues.

Experience colonial times with Dottie Howland, W-PHS Program Chair and Perry Howland, Williamson Town Historian, who invite  kids of all ages, including the young-at-heart, to press cider with them the old-fashioned way.  This event will take place at the
W-PHS house located at 4130 Mill Street in Pultneyville from 1-4pm and is free and open to the public. It will showcase an earlier way of life and the agricultural heritage of the  community.

Also, on Monday, October 14th, Dan Montondo will welcome visitors to Gates Hall,  the oldest active small community theatre in the United States in continuous operation.  Built in 1825, this architecturally significant structure continues to stand proud and tall as a pillar in the historic hamlet of Pultneyville.   Gates Hall resides on the National Register of Historic Places and throughout its 194 years has served the community well as a sacred place, community meeting place, community theatre . . . and more.  All are invited to visit and get a behind-the-scenes look at this historic venue, learn about its history, and get a taste of an upcoming show.
Gates Hall is located at 4107  Lake Road, Pultneyville.  Feel free to visit at your convenience throughout the afternoon.  This come-and-go event is also free and open to the public and will provide a glimpse into the important role that the hall continues to play in the community as a cultural center.

“Path Through History” Weekends are a showcase of New York State’s rich and fascinating history and will feature hundreds of events happening at historic and cultural destinations throughout the state. You don’t have to be a historian to appreciate New York State’s rich heritage.  New York’s new “Path Through History” helps you discover, experience and appreciate the state’s amazing past, of which    W-PHS is proud to be part of.

Pultneyville is steeped in history and W-PHS  is delighted  to participate in the NYS “Path to History” events and to host the memorable experiences that await visitors.
