With Eclipse 2024 just a little over a month away, excitement and enthusiasm continue to build, especially for those in the Path of Totality as Pultneyville is. Given the mission of the Williamson-Pultneyville Historical Society (W-PHS) which, in part, is to provide exceptional experiences, it seems fitting to do just that in the days leading up to, and including the long-awaited April 8th phenomena.

Pultneyville offers a welcome and picturesque respite from crowds gathered in more congested areas to explore, observe, and experience the Eclipse. It is a place where one can plan an active adventure or kick-back and relax in wide open spaces in, and around, the hamlet . . . a place where one can create their own “Me or We” eclipse experience.

The W-PHS will host a Welcome Event at Gates Hall on Friday, April 5th at 4:30pm. Intended to familiarize visitors and residents with the area, various speakers will acquaint attendees with the significance of Pultneyville’s history, places to visit and “Things To Do.”

Serving as a “hub” for information and activity April 5-8, Gates Hall will be filled with speakers and a continuous loop of interviews featuring Eclipse Enthusiasts and Experts. There will also be Historic District Walking Tours in the hamlet, opportunities to enjoy exhibits at the W-PHS House . . . and, to satisfy taste buds, even the ever-popular tasty “Pultneyville Potatoes” will be available on April 8th at Gates Hall.

Bring your lawn chairs and grab a coffee at the Pultneyville Deli and socialize with friends, both old and new, in Centennial Park or on the grounds of the W-PHS House as April weather permits. Take a stroll over to the Pizza Stop Pub and Bistro and enjoy live music under the tent on Monday afternoon.   Take a walk along Pig Lane … a public historic pedestrian footpath in the hamlet connecting Mill and Jay Streets where droves of pigs once roamed or walk the trails of the nearby lakeside Genesee Land Trust.

The W-PHS looks forward to visitors and the community coming together under clear skies and warmer temperatures!  Bring your camera and document Total Solar Eclipse experiences, which for many will be only once in a lifetime.
